I have enjoyed the album Looked Upon from the Na Band for a couple of years now. There are many soul-stirring, Christ-magnifying songs on there. Recently at the Together for the Gospel conference we sang “All I have is Christ” from this album. It was great. And the song remains great because the truth behind the song is true!
So…in effort to expose more folks to the album and the song here is a video with Devon Kauflin singing t...
Here are a few of the posts that I enjoyed in the last few das. I think you’ll enjoy them too.
My friend Eric at “A Pilgrim’s Progress” has written several times about the descriptive/prescriptive question. His post “Sola Scriptura: The Protestant Position on the Bible” mentions this problem as well.
Another friend, Dan, has started blogging again at “Hollow Again.” You should read his posts “...
About 18 months ago, I wrote a post called “Charismatics.” This post was not about charismatic or pentecostal denominations. All children of God are charismatics, meaning all believers are indwelled by the Spirit and gifted by Him. Those gifts are given so that we can serve one another. And… perhaps most importantly… and gifts and all people serving is important to the growth of the church!

The statistics aren’t pretty. People are leaving the church in record numbers these days. Many of them citing they don’t need the “church” to grow more like Jesus. While I’ve certainly met believers that seemed to be cultivating a growing relationship with Christ apart from the church, scripture also indicates there is a special role reserved for the church when it comes to making disciples.

This post is to help a friend of mine with a project he is doing.
Sometimes, there are people who are Christians that live like Jesus.
They radiate. Grace drips off every word they speak.
Are they perfect?
No.
But as I’ve found these rare treasures of people, I hold on tight…because rare they are.
They truly love unconditionally, forgive without hesitation, and aim for peace and faith.

There are also people...
so, this afternoon, inspired by our earlier conversation, I started talking with a couple of brothers about another question related to defining the church – or answering the question “what is a church”.
If five people are regularly in the same place at the same time once per week, but those five people never see one another, much less speak to or interact with one another, are those five people church together? What would your ...
Art, from “Church Task Force,” once again left a comment that I think needs to be shared. He wrote this in response to my post “Church in a coffee shop“:
Deb and I lived on Okinawa for 3 1/2 years, living in a small village for most of that time. Different languages, customs, dress, food, values, etc. We were always “gaijin”–foreigners, outsiders, no matter how much we made friends, no matter how well we fit in. It w...
We all have blind spots. We have our issues. Whether we are talking about personal, social, or theological blind spots, we have them. And to say you don’t, is to, well, make my point.
The important thing for us to look for said weaknesses, identify them and replace them. This is living life as a fallen sinner it is reality.
But sometimes our blind spots are our hobby horses. And this is a problem.
I can remember arguing about abortion with ...
So, when we read “breaking bread” in the New Testament, should we assume that the author is talking about “the Lord’s Supper” (or Communion or the Eucharist or whatever it is called in your tradition)?
We find Jesus “breaking bread” in the feeding of the 5000 and the feeding of the 4000:
Then he ordered the crowds to sit down on the grass, and taking the five loaves and the two fish, he looked up to heave...
Watchman Nee once wrote, "We are so sub-normal that to look normal we would appear to be abnormal." Whenever God has brought a reformer to the Church, that reformer has usually appeared to be abnormal to others. He usually is much like the prophets of the Old Testament who burned with a holy zeal for Yahweh. He would talk differently, walk differently, and would burn with a passion to spread the gospel to all he met. His passion would not be ...
SavedThroughFaith.com is a community for Christians to learn, teach, share, and grow in their faith. Please be respectful to everyone - none of us are perfect, and we all stumble in our walk with God. Remember that, and above all else, love God, and love all of his people!
