Put Down the 2 Buck Chuck and Drink from Heaven’s Cellar

When we do not fasten ourselves in faith upon Jesus it is not because we are not believers. We are believers– just not in Jesus.

Instead of trusting and treasuring Jesus we trust and treasure ourselves or some other created thing.

This is why the goal of gospel-preaching must always be to showcase the glory of Christ and compel it to glory-starved hearts. When God opens eyes to see Christ, to really see him, we weep with joy inexpressible. We taste the glory of the age to come.

Through the preaching of the gospel God allows us to taste the choice wine from his holy cellar. And we can never go back to the 2 buck chuck of this world.

Graciously, God detaches our worship from created things and firmly fastens it upon Jesus. Herein we find our hunger satisfied and our hurting healed.
