Here are some good resources to think about and celebrate Reformation Day.
Chris Castaldo helpfully explains what happened when Luther was asked to recant before the Diet of Worms in 1521.
And here’s the scene from the contemporary Luther film:
The following is an hour-long PBS documentary (caveat emptor!) that includes commentary by Alister McGrath (Reformation scholar and author of Christianity’s Dangerous Idea: The Protestant Revoluti...
Hello everyone and welcome back to Deeper Waters where we are diving into the ocean of truth! We’ve been looking at the relationship between science and religion lately. Tonight, I’d like us to start looking at the topic of evolution. I’m not going to be commenting from a scientific matter. I really don’t have the science to do that. Tonight, we just want to look and see if evolution and Christianity are compatible.
Now ri...
This is the 128th passage in “Scripture… As We Live It.”
(This is in honor of Halloween…)
Therefore let no one pass judgment on you each other in questions of food and drink, or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath… and especially pass judgment in regards to Halloween, unless it’s a Fall Festival instead of a Halloween Carnival. (Colossians 2:16 re-mix)

How do people view eschatology? Some people get all worked up and go in the ditch of panic, fear and speculation. They see the Beast around every new election. They get wrapped up in playing the dating game. Most are smart enough to avoid setting a specific date, but they do tell everyone that we are living in the last days. If it is said often enough then it must be true.Others try their best to ignore the subject all together. Many of these wil...
Today, October 31st, is Reformation Day. On this day Martin Luther nailed his 95 Thesis on the church door at Wittenberg. This act launched the Protestant reformation of the Church and by the grace of God enabled the truth of justification by faith to be preached once again as well as the final authority of the Bible (or sola scriptura as it became known). I praise God for raising up Martin Luther to challenge the establishment ...
Last weekend we had the opportunity to get away for a couple days and go camping with some friends in the Smoky Mountains. Some of our richest family memories are from camping. While we only get to go a handful of times a year we enjoy every second of it.
I’ve discovered that you can pretty much split everyone into two categories in life. Those who camp and those who don’t.
Which one are you?
If you enjoy camping what...
Hello everyone and welcome back to Deeper Waters, a blog where we dive into the ocean of truth! Tonight, we’re going to be looking further at our study of the relationship between science and religion. We’ll be talking about a case that always comes up when this issue is raised and that is the case of Galileo, which is supposed to show the great conflict between science and religion.
The idea is that Galileo came to the conclusion tha...
Our family is traveling to Washington, D.C. But, this trip will be a little different. While this will be a family vacation (and, as homeschoolers, also educational), it will also be a “friends” vacation. What do I mean?
Well, first of all, we’re traveling with another family. We’ll be spending alot of time together over the next few days.
Also, we’ll be meeting other friends in the D.C. area. One family now lives ne...
