Every May about 30,000 people come to visit us in Omaha. The people are great; they’re friendly, happy, and help the local economy. We like them. However, we may not even notice them if it were not for their lanyards and large badges. So we do see them; and people like me, locals from behind a pair of Oakley’s out walking our kids, we watch them. I also try to learn.
I am talking about the great multitude that comes to Omaha to atte...
This post is part of the May 2012 Synchroblog called “Lighten Up: The Art of Laughter, Joy, & Letting Go.” I haven’t taken part in a synchroblog in the last few months. I’ve been interested, and I’ve tried to read most of the posts.
But, when I saw this month’s topic, I couldn’t let it pass without jumping on board.
So, what’s up with this topic? Well, here̵...
Last week the internet was all abuzz (and I’m sure it still is) over some comments or lack of comments that Andy Stanley made in a recent message. Apparently there were some that thought he was “soft-pedaling” when it came to homosexuality. You can read a detailed explanation of the event HERE.
Man, if we’re going to start criticizing and denouncing pastors for something they “did not say” by trying to read the...
Is that really an accurate quote? Let’s talk about it on Deeper Waters. I woke up this morning to find on my Facebook a request from a friend of mine concerning a debate she was in on the Unbelievable page asking if I would know the correct source for a quote an atheist had given. [...]...
People operate with inconsistencies and even contradictions in their world views. This is perhaps no more apparent then when sports writers and reporters attempt to weigh in on moral issues. I experienced this first-hand the other day as I listened to ESPN-Radio.
Jeremy Schaap, the reporter from ESPN’s Outside the Lines, has become known for his documentaries on controversies within the sports world. In his recent commentary on The Sporting...
Swanny at “Allergic to BS” has written a very good post called “‘Us’conditional Love.”
The point of the post is the we often only love those who are like us in various ways. This “us”conditional love could be offered only toward those who agree with theological system or who are part of our “local church” organization.
While Swanny focuses on those who ar...

(If you are interested in writing a guest blog post, please contact me at aknox[at]sebts[dot]com.)
Today’s post was written by Ross Rohde. Y...

This is the 207th passage in “Scripture… As We Live It.”
For you always have the poor with you, but you will not always have me so there’s no reason to ever do anything about the poor since it’s a lost cause. (Matthew 26:11 re-mix)
(Please read the first post for an explanation of this series.)

Would you like to make another conference possible? Let’s talk about it on Deeper Waters. My good friend Lynn Erhorn of Perissos Resources, a Christian ministry, is in the works of preparing a conference. While there will be apologetics involved, which piques my interest, this will not be just apologetics. There will be venues of [...]...
