Yesterday my family and I went to a farm outside of Omaha. This is unique because I can probably count on one hand the number of times I have ever been to a farm. If you have ever been to one I don’t have to remind you that unique sites and smells abound.
In particular, I want to focus here on the smells. Now, I will not go into great detail, so queasy stomached folks may continue reading. However, the fact of the matter is, the place ree...
There are few things I enjoy as much as camping. I’m blessed to have a family that loves the outdoors as much as I do. We take several camping trips a year and our first one of the summer is generally on Memorial Day weekend.
This year we went with some friends to Fall Creek Falls and had a blast.
A few of my favorite highlights:
Watching my family climb all the way down to the base of Fall Creek Falls.
Following the stre...
If you’ve been a long time reader of the blog then you know my kids have shown off their mad skillz on occasion.
A couple of my favorites were when Jett performed a Taylor Swift song and Gage performed the first song he wrote or when he taught us the Bow Chica Wow Wow dance.
However Brewer has yet to really get in on the action, until now. We just celebrated his fourth birthday so I think he’s fair game.
He interrupte...
Most people have a hard time with their youngest child growing up, but not me. I have the hardest time with Gage, our middle (but not average) son, getting older. I don’t know what it is. Maybe it’s that he’s still more dependent on his parents than his other two brothers. Maybe it has to do with his sweet spirited nature. I don’t know, I just know it’s hard for me to believe he’s turning six t...
Yesterday was opening day at the ballpark. Jett and Gage are both playing again this year so we’ll be spending a lot of time out there. It kind of becomes a second home of sorts for the next couple of months. I can’t imagine what we’ll do if Brewer decides he wants to play next year. I better just take it one season at a time.
I love what Walt Whitman said about baseball.
I see great things in baseball. It...
There are no words to express how incredible this weekend was. I was blown away with what God did in the life of our church. Over 100 people made a decision to follow Christ yesterday! Wow!
So very thankful for the tireless efforts of the CP staff and volunteers. Equally excited to hear how God was moving around the globe in the larger Church. Absolutely blown away!
Now just imagine the indescribably joy, the powerful hope, and t...
I know part of my job as a parent is leading and teaching my children. I hope I do a fair job at that, but I’m often reminded they teach me a lot as well.
The biggest lesson my three boys are teaching me these days is “don’t take life so seriously.” They are literally teaching me how to be a kid again. When I’m around them…
I laugh more
I worry less
I ask more questions
I try new things

So I came home on Friday from a day of writing and found the following list posted on the fridge.
I wasn’t sure if it was for me or the kids, but after further investigation I was told it was for both. I’ve got a feeling the list is going to grow so I thought you might help me out and let me know what you think we’re missing.
Any suggestions?

My kids are growing up. This is filled with all sorts of emotions. Life presents new challenges and circumstances. This is true for any parent. But things are a little different for Christian parents. We actually believe that our kids are not Christians just because we are. Heaven is not an unalienable right like voting at 18. Our children have to actually come to terms with the God of the gospel themselves.
This presents an interesting set of ci...
We’ve been busy making lots of memories the past couple days. I really have no words to describe how much fun we’ve been having. We only get snow like this about once a decade here in Nashville so we had to take full advantage of it. Here’s a few things I’ll never forget.
-Sledding with the kids at 11:30 p.m.
-Gage looking outside and seeing all the snow and saying, “This is the biggest miracle of my life”.
