This weekend I had the incredible opportunity of speaking at Harvest Church in Billings, Montana. Harvest is an amazing church that is making an incredible impact out here. They have four campuses with one in Cody, Wyoming. They’re in the process of raising money to build an olympic size pool that they’re actually going to give to the city of Billings as a gift just to show they’re here to serve the community. Love it.

Right after our second child was born a mentor of mine gave me some incredible advice. He said, “Pete, no matter what you think about how best to express love your small children will always spell it T-I-M-E. I’ve found that advice to be spot on. Like most of you I go through seasons where my kids kind of get my leftovers. I can begin to see it in how they act out in an attempt to get my attention.
Regardless of where we go on vaca...
I hope you guys have a wonderful 4th of July. We did our big party last night at the house but we plan on a nice low key night tonight with a few friends.
So thankful today to live in a country where many have paid a high price for our freedom.
Even more thankful for Jesus who gives me the freedom from the power of sin and death.
What are your plans for the 4th?

As a family with a new baby we are going through that stage where everyone gets their call in to tell you who the baby looks like. It is always fun for me to hear the observations. As a parent, I too like to play this new-born game.
But the newborn game is not limited to newborns. This is of course, because of one of the more familiar, and yet, amazing aspects of humanity: by in large, children look and act like their parents.
I still find myself...
It’s not what you think.
Sometimes God provides very interesting and even funny reminders of his nearness to us. The birth of our 3rd little girl, Zoe Star, is one such example. She turned 2 yesterday and I figured this would be a good time to reset this story.
Prior to Zoe my wife and I had experienced several miscarriages (I wrote about it here). This was an extremely tough time. We had wanted another child but the babies were not health...
One of my goals for this summer has been to elevate the place of family reading. In particular, the book(s) I chose to help with this is N.D. Wilson’s 100 Cupboards. This three-part series appears to have something for all of our kids, from the younger ones (age 7) up to our teenager.
The first book did not disappoint. We jammed through it in record pace. It was highly requested each day, by multiple people (including my wife).
Here is the ...
We’ve been in a series at Cross Point on Heaven entitled “Glimpse”. This series has stretched me in a way I haven’t been stretched in a while. It’s been fun because we’ve had so many discussions at home with the kids about heaven. My 10 year old is especially interested. Just a few of his recent questions were….
Is there football in heaven?
Do we know anyone in our family that hasn’t gone to heav...
We all like surprises. We all like to laugh. When you combine these two together under the banner of some of life’s most basic questions, you have something special.
This is what my wife and I experienced on Saturday night.
We were outside at a mall here in Omaha. My wife was feeding our new baby boy as we sat and talked together on a bench.
Then we met this interesting young man. He was probably about 10. By all accounts, he was very brigh...
I’m really excited to help spread the word about a super important issue in our culture and a small way you can take part in combating the problem. Particularly fathers. While there are many benefits to the technology that’s available at our fingertips 24/7, there is also no doubt whatsoever it’s tearing marriages, families and relationships apart when abused and that’s what we’ve come to in a big way today. Author ...
So tonight’s the annual CMT Music Awards. I’ll be honest and admit that I haven’t actually ever seen these awards, but I’ll be watching tonight. Many of you will remember that our entire family had the opportunity last summer to go to Maine with our friend, Taylor Swift, to be a part of her video.
Well it’s up for video of the year. I’m guessing this will be our family’s only shot at ever being part of a ...
